The Woodstock Action Group (WAG) has resolved to fight plans by the Pye Homes-Vanbrugh Trust (AKA Blenheim Estate) to double the size of Woodstock by proposing to develop 1,500 houses partially on farmland to the south east of the town, in particular behind Hedge End and Plane Tree Way and partially extending into the Cherwell District along Campsfield and Shipton Roads.
In WAG’s opinion, this is a preposterous plan and it will not bring new life into Woodstock centre. A large supermarket planned with parking for 300 cars will suck the life blood out of the local tradespeople or people will just shop conveniently in Kidlington.
WAG believes from past experience, that by far the majority of the concerned residents of Woodstock support our stance and do not want any more development beyond that which we have already experienced.
Yes, people have to live somewhere but Woodstock, over the past few years, has provided more than its fair share of housing – all in the Hensington quarter of the town.
