SHE may not look like a fledgling, but at 12 weeks old this bald eagle is the youngest member of the Millets Farm falconry display team.
The Frilford centre is now inviting visitors to suggest names for the bird, which is being trained for public displays.
Keeper James Channon said the chick had come from a falconry in Wales last month, bringing the centre’s total number of birds to about 80.
He said: “All birds of prey grow very quickly. By about eight to 12 weeks old most are fully grown and ready to leave the nest.”
Mr Channon said part of the new arrival’s training would be getting her used to the crowds but he said she should be ready to perform by October half term.
And he said the centre wanted visitors to name her before then, adding: “Once you have named about 80 birds of prey you lose a bit of inspiration, so it is nice to get the public involved.”
The winner of the name competition will win a VIP day out at the falconry centre.
Anyone wishing to suggest a name should speak to the staff.
