Sir – Paul Huband writes (Letters, September 4) that A-Levels must have been devalued because a pupil with 2 A* and an A at A-Level is destined for Oxford Brookes.
He reminds us that Brookes was once a polytechnic. Is is not possible that, in fact, that the courses at Oxford Brookes attract as able a group of students as at any university, and that people should move on from when we had polytechnics 22 years ago?
