ABINGDON’S historic Guildhall hosted an Antiques Roadshow style event in aid of charity.
Experts from Bonhams auction house set up at the Roysse Room and offered to value items for a small fee to be donated to family support charity Home-Start Southern Oxfordshire.
Valuer Toby Messenger said more than 50 people came along to Thursday’s event.
He said visitors could get two items valued for £5.
He said: “It was a busy day.
“They are always busy these charity valuation days.”
But he said the events often brought up some interesting items as well as more common antiques.
Caroline Oakley had her Japanese Root Wood carving valued at between £100 and £200.
But she said she brought it along to support the charity, adding: “I took it along because I did not know anything about it.”
