I quote from the Oxford Mail, Oxfordshire county councillor David Nimmo Smith, cabinet member for transport, who estimates that it will cost £160 to bring every mile of road in Oxfordshire up to scratch.
But what I would like to know is what has happened to all the car tax over the years? The roads in Oxford have been neglected for years, that’s why they are in the state that they are. How much money has the council spent so far patching up London Road?
It would have been better off doing it right in the first place. The council has given out two dates when London Road will be sorted out.
The last date was between June and September of this year – well that’s not going to happen.
Now, in reality so long as we pay our car tax does the council really care about us having to drive on these roads? I don’t think so because if they cared then these roads wouldn’t have been left to get as bad as they are.
Until it’s repaired London Road should be called “Patchwork Road”.
