VILLAGERS have been urged to have a look at plans to build a centre in Eynsham that could help protect vulnerable children.
Oxfordshire County Council has proposed an “assessment centre” in the village to provide short-term accommodation for up to six vulnerable young people aged from 12 to 17.
Staff at the centre at Litchfield Farm will assess residents to determine whether they can go home or need to be fostered.
It is part of the council’s response to the Oxford grooming gang scandal which includes proposals for two other residential centres at Didcot and Thame, unveiled earlier this year.
Edward James, West Oxfordshire District Council member for Eynsham and Cassington, is urging villagers to go and view the plans at a consultation evening at Eynsham Village Hall from 4pm to 7pm on Wednesday.
The Conservative said everything should be done to help stop child sex exploitation.
He said: “I think we have to do all that we can to help vulnerable children in this situation.
“Personally, I think if it was in an appropriate place we should be supporting it.”
