THE reason why the First World War is striking a chord for so many 100 years on is because, in our cosy 21st-Century existence, we all question how these brave men could have withstood such horrors.
Relics help our understanding of the conflict because they are tangible, and so we are delighted to have played a small part in Brian Stepney receiving the medals earned by his grandfather.
