A MAN in his 20s was stabbed in his stomach in a Banbury park fight, police have said this afternoon.
Officers were called to a report of a fight between a group of men in Moorfield Park at about 11.50am.
Paramedics were also called and a spokeswoman said the victim was taken to Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital with "significant injuries".
A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of wounding and a 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent.
Both are currently in police custody.
Investigating officer Det Sgt Chris Whitwell said: "The investigation is at a very early stage however we believe this is an isolated incident in which the offenders and victim were known to each other. There is no threat to the wider community at this time.
"There is a significant police presence in the area at the moment, both undertaking forensic work and to offer reassurance to the local community."
Thames Valley Police said the victim was not thought to be in a life-threatening condition.
The force also said a scene watch was still in place.
