OXFORD’S dinosaurs are taking centre stage tomorrow in a new children’s play What To Do When You Find A Dinosaur.
In 1824 Oxford scientist William Buckland – also known for trying to eat a bite from every animal on the planet – discovered a bone from a creature that no one had ever seen before.
He named it the Megalosaurus, and the show follows him and his great disovery as he told the world about it.
The production is directed by Oxford Playhouse Evolve artist in residence Robin Colyer, with music by renowned children’s theatre maker Ivan Stott from Hiccup Theatre.
Actor Lucy Tuck, who plays Buckland’s wife Mary, said: “Having a dinosaur as a co-star has been very exciting, and it’s great to be bringing Oxford’s own discovery to the stage.”
She joked: “Now all we have to do is stop William Bucknell from eating his way through the food chain at breaks.”
The show starts tomorrow and runs until Sunday, September 21 at the Burton Taylor Studio on Gloucester Street.
Ticket prices start from £5.50 and are available from the Oxford Playhouse Ticket Office on 01865 305305 or oxfordplayhouse.com
