For around 30 years I worked as a Children’s and Families social worker and Guardian ad Litem and I would strongly support the proposals by MP Nicola Blackwood. There is an urgent need to change procedures in favour of the victims.
There are many ‘Oxford’ perpetrators who remain uncharged and I would hope more of them could be dealt with if these new proposals are adopted. Letting them remain unprocessed by the law is not satisfactory. As a society we must improve the way we deal with victims of child sex abuse and ensure that perpetrators are treated fairly but firmly too.
