It is to be hoped the that suggestion by Mr Tanner that cyclists should be allowed to ride the wrong way down one way streets is rejected out of hand.
In this town it is a common sight to see cyclists going the wrong way down West St Helens Street, children and adults alike swerve out of the way of oncoming traffic up on to the pavement. One of these days there will surely be a coming together, the cyclists will come off worse. Cycles are just two wheeled vehicles and human powered unless they are “electric bicycles”. All vehicles should obey the rules of the road, even cyclists.
