THE mother of murdered teenager Connor Tremble said she has endured a “living nightmare” after his killer was convicted.
Yesterday Lisa Tremble paid tribute to her 17-year-old son, who was fatally stabbed by Will Blencowe on February 13 this year.
Speaking outside Oxford Crown Court after Blencowe was found guilty of murder she said Connor was “a very special young man”.
Standing alongside Connor’s father, Martin Smith, and other family members Miss Tremble said the trial had been hard for all of them.
She said: “We have waited almost seven months for justice to be done and today we finally believe we have got justice for Connor.
“Will Blencowe is responsible for committing the most horrific and violent murder of our beloved Connor, which he carried out with detailed planning.
“The motive behind Connor’s murder was nothing more than jealousy on Will Blencowe’s part, and he showed Connor no mercy.
“He prolonged our family’s suffering by pleading not guilty to the charge and we have sat every day in court listening to the evidence against him and his lies.
“He has shown no empathy throughout this long and drawn-out process. No family should ever have to go through what we have gone through and are still going through now.
“Connor was a very special young man and he was very vulnerable due to his special needs.
“He touched the hearts of everyone who knew him and everyone who he met. Connor was a charming, cheeky, happy go lucky lad who was just beginning to live an independent life.
“He was just looking forward to his eighteenth birthday, a special milestone in his life, which he never reached.
“No more birthdays, Christmases – he will never ever have a family of his own.
“My life, Connor’s dad’s life, and the life of every member of our family has changed.
“It’s a living nightmare that will never end.
“We would like to say thank you to everyone who has shown us support and compassion.”
She also read out a poem in memory of her son, it reads: “I wish I could be given just one more day.
“To hold you close and tell you things I have to say “But I know that will never be.
“You are no longer here, you were stolen from me.”
In a statement, Mr Smith said: “In his short life Connor touched many lives. He will be greatly missed and always remembered.”
The senior investigating officer in the case, Det Chief Insp Mark Glover, of Thames Valley Police, said: “A jury has determined that Will Blencowe cruelly took the life of Connor Tremble, who was aged just 17, in a pre-planned and unprovoked outburst of violence.
“My thoughts remain with Connor’s family.
“I know nothing will bring Connor back to them but I hope the conviction today of Blencowe will provide them with the sense that justice has been served.”
