THOUSANDS of new homes near Kidlington and two other “satellite” settlements would transform Oxford into a “garden city” in a new plan.
The man behind the Oxford Futures transport project, design expert Nicholas Falk, of Stroud, Gloucestershire, entered his scheme for this year’s Wolfson Economic Prize, a national competition, worth £250,000.
It would see a new settlement built north of the city, close to the new Oxford Parkway railway station at Kidlington, due to open next summer.
There would also be two other large developments elsewhere, planned with green spaces and conforming with the garden city ethos of combatting urban sprawl.
Mr Falk’s full plan, including maps, will remain under wraps until this year’s Wolfson prize winner is announced on September 3.
