DIDCOT was famed for its cooling towers at the old power station.
But while the first three of Didcot A’s six towers have tumbled down in a cloud of ash, two stars have risen to put the town back on the map.
Dan Rivers and Ben Watson have made Didcot the pride of Oxfordshire after their triumphs at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
They were so successful, the town would have come 19th in the medals table if it were a country.
After the London 2012 Olympics, gold medalists had a postbox painted gold in their home town in honour of them.
Perhaps the remaining three cooling towers should be adorned the same colour to mark our new heroes.
