I would wish to congratulate the Oxford Mail on the recent coverage it has given to the 100 year anniversary of the beginning of the First World War.
I really do not think enough can be said about the loss of 700,000 British soldiers in what was one of the most ridiculous conflicts of all time.
Thank you for stories and views of the many contributors who all tell a similar story, that is of the bravery of the thousands of naive young men who enlisted to fight for their country.
At the front they all faced extreme adversity and lived each day knowing that it could be their last.
The courage demonstrated to overcome the incredible fear they must have faced is something hopefully none of us today will ever have to face.
Well done the Oxford Mail. We should always remember them.
