Plans for a solar farm that would power more than 2,000 homes have been rejected.
Solar installations company Lightsource applied to West Oxfordshire District Council for planning permission to build the facility on a four-hectare plot – the size of six football pitches – off Banbury Road, in between Tackley and Wootton.
The 7.5W solar farm would have generated electricity for the National Grid for the equivalent of 2,150 houses.
Lightsource said there would be space for sheep to be grazed under and between the panels. It did not say how many panels would be installed.
The district council’s uplands planning sub-committee refused the plans on Monday on the recommendation of planning officers, who were concerned about its visual impact on landscape views.
