Once again we read about the shortcomings of the Crown Prosecution Service, better known as Clown Prosecution or Criminal Protection Service.
At one time police took the prosecution of cases and failure in presentation led to disciplinary charges. Today the CPS are more like civil servants, if their solicitors were any good they would be in private practice, that’s where the money is. But win or lose the CPS still get paid. In cases for trial the police used local solicitors who did a first-class job.
