SPORTING rivals in Oxford and across the Channel took part in the ultimate table tennis battle yesterday.
Students from OISE Language Coaching’s Oxford and Paris schools went head-to-head as part of the Ping! Oxford table tennis festival.
The Oxford team of 15 students aged 16 to 17 confronted seven French rivals in an attempt to be crowned winners of who could play the longest.
The game began at Oxford’s Gloucester Green at 1pm and the Paris game started at 4pm at Champs de Mars.
Competitors played “round the table”, a version of the sport involving players hitting the ball and running to the other end of the table. The team from Paris were the eventual winners.
Huberto Dominguez, 15, from Madrid, said at the Oxford event: “Ping was great fun.’’
