FRIENDSHIP blossomed as youngsters united with their Muslim neighbours to celebrate the Islamic festival of Eid al-Fitr.
Festivities included decorating hands with traditional henna tattoos.
More than 40 families gathered at Donnington Doorstep Family Centre, in Townsend Square, on Thursday. Muslims across the world have been fasting from sunrise to sunset during their holy month of Ramadan.
The Eid celebration marked the end of the religious fast which took place between Sunday, June 29, and Monday, July 28.
Deputy manager of Donnington Play Group, Nighat Shan, attended the event to celebrate breaking her fast.
She said: “It’s really nice to celebrate together.’’ Traditional asian food and musical entertainment were also on offer.
