Within the last seven days your paper, journalists and photographers have done a magnificent job in their coverage of four major stories of local interest – the culmination of the harrowing Fiaz Munshi and Ben Blakeley trials, the demolition of the cooling towers at Didcot and the departure of the Pioneer Regiment from Bicester.
In the 25 years I have had the good fortune to live in Oxford I cannot recall a time when four news items of such significant importance came one after each other.
I am certain one of these events will be submitted for a national award within the newspaper industry as the quality of reporting and in-depth analysis was equal to, if not surpassing, what one would expect from the main dailies.
Well done, Oxford Mail.
