WE live in a wonderful age, but every day folk die for want of a transplant while at the same time organs are burnt or buried.
So why not have a donor system and carry a card if you do not wish to donate?
Corneas, hearts, lungs, pancreas, liver, kidneys, bone marrow and even hands. How many would live or have a better quality of life?
Blood transfusions are now so common we take them for granted.
I have made sure I will donate all organs that may be capable of being used after my death, even my brain, for research use.
I respect the fact that some would oppose this idea and that, of course, is their right. I firmly believe that such donations would bring comfort to the donor’s family by knowing their loved one’s death had not been in vain.
I suspect many will condemn me, but would they refuse such a donation? I doubt it.
