“I can’t hear you!” Bill Huaki, of the British STIHL Timbersports team, urges the crowd for their support so he can make the final cut at the CLA Game Fair competition. David Fleming’s shot leaves me wondering how on earth Bill even managed to get up the log, let alone balance there and chop the top off
For me it is one of the hardest decisions to take a picture like this. Mark Hemsworth had permission from the mum of Martha Fernback, who passed away a year ago in Hinksey Park, Oxford, when he attended, so this time it was okay to be there with a camera
Three-year-old Morris dancer Harrison Brown, from the Gloucestershire Morris Men Side, is caught almost in mid-air here as he performs outside the main entrance
of Oxford’s Ashmolean Museum all on his own in front of spectators. Another great
shot from David Fleming
Now this is what press photography is all about. Mark Hemsworth was on his way back from a job at Oxford Crown Court when all this unfolded in front of him at the Folly Bridge. Good job he still had his camera around his neck and not in his bag! It seems that a chap was knocked over by a car and then an altertation took place. Nothing like being in the right place at the right time.
I have to be honest here and confess that I’m not a fan of face painting photos being in the paper. To me they happen every weekend and always look the same. Apart from this one from West Way Festival, in Oxford. This picture is different and lovely. The mirror has brought both subjects together in the same shot. Good work, Mark Hemsworth
Denis Kennedy pointed his camera the correct way here and snapped this fun shot of Rev Simon Kirby, taking part in a churches tug of war in Witney, and his expression that says it all. PULL!
