OXFORDSHIRE’S social care authorities are carrying out a serious case review following the murder of Jayden Parkinson.
After she became homeless in autumn last year, 17-year-old Jayden accepted an offer of accommodation at One Foot Forward, a supported housing scheme for 16 to 25-year-olds in Iffley Road.
The project, part-funded by Oxfordshire County Council, which is responsible for social services, helps young people move to permanent accommodation.
Oxfordshire Safeguarding Children Board (OSCB) and representatives from the Oxford City and South Oxfordshire & Vale Community Safety Partnerships are now combining a serious case review with a domestic homicide review.
They are due to report early in the new year and the county council said “agencies would always act to implement any actions or recommendations from such reviews”.
The spokesman added: “This was clearly a very tragic case and the sympathies of all agencies are with Jayden’s family and friends.”
The county council said although social services had earlier worked with Jayden, she was not a child in care.
