Police are guarding a flat off Botley Road in West Oxford today following an incident.
The flat in Duke Street is currently taped off and a police officer is standing guard outside.
A spokesman for Thames Valley Police confirmed there had been an incident in Duke Street but would not comment further at this stage.
A 35-year-old consultant, who asked not to be named, said he lived nearby and had heard people at the flat arguing at about 10pm last night.
He said: "There is police tape around the basement flat and I have seen forensics officers.
"There has been a lot of police activity."
No one from South Central Ambulance was available for comment.
