I note with interest today Nick Clegg is distancing himself and the Lib Dems from the bedroom tax.
Up to now, the Lib Dems have, in essence, supported this bedroom tax policy.
I will be cynical and suggest that the reason Nick is now speaking out against this policy is because we are now in the lead up to the general election – where I anticipate Lib Dem candidates will be mainly unsuccessful because of their role in the Coalition.
It must be totally disheartening for grassroot Lib Dem activists to see some of their policies dismissed because of the Coalition – one example of this is tuition fees.
I have no doubt, that as the general election nears, the electorate will have to endure a lot of jaw gnashing from prospective candidates and political parties – telling them things they want to hear.
