GIRLS on work experience at an arts trust made giant 3-D letters to promote random acts of kindness.
Genevieve Tomes and Danielle Hollis got to grips with the project during their week volunteering at the Oxford Youth Arts Partnership Trust, in Bicester.
The 17-year-old pupils from The Cooper School, in Churchill Road, Bicester, made the 3ft tall letters which will go on exhibition at Banbury’s Hill Community Centre on August 1.
They will spell out “30 Days of Kindness” – the name of the centre’s youth group project in which youngsters will give sweets to strangers and make blankets for the homeless.
The trust’s programme manager, Beverley Hill, said: “The idea is that they do something creative, kind and visible. I think they have a real sense of what it’s like to develop a project and how the arts can help develop young people.”
Miss Hill added that the two youngsters had such a good time volunteering with the trust that they planned to go back.
Genevieve said: “I’ve realy enjoyed work experience with the trust.
“They do amazing work and have let us help with projects – one of which was making a 3D giant letter for a kindness project in Banbury.”
Danielle said: “From doing my work experience here I have been able to creatively participate in projects run by the trust and have enjoyed giving back to the local community. It’s been really fun.”
