PERMISSION should be given for a former East Oxford builders’ merchants to be used as a temporary car wash, a council planning officer has said.
Oxford City Council’s Lisa Green has backed the plan for the former Travis Perkins site in Chapel Street.
The car wash is already in operation there.
It would open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday; 8am to 1pm, Saturday and 9am to 5pm on Sunday and bank holidays.
A plan for student flats at the site had been given planning permission.
But that has expired and the council is considering a new proposal for offices and 31 flats.
Two East Avenue residents raised concerns to the council about water forming in the street outside East Oxford Primary School.
Another said it would impact on the “character of the area” and road safety.
But Oxfordshire County Council, which is responsible for roads, did not object about safety or raise concerns about excessive water.
The plan will be considered at the west area planning committee at the Town Hall, St Aldate’s on Tuesday from 6.30pm. The public can attend.
