Oxfordshire’s firefighters staged a pair of two-hour strikes yesterday.
Members of the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) walked out between 6am and 8am over plans to change pensions and the retirement age of firefighters, as well as from 5pm to 7pm.
It was the start of an eight-day national strike taking place this month.
FBU members are due to continue walking out for two hours, twice a day until next Monday. On Sunday they will only strike once.
Oxfordshire County Council said 17 of the fire and rescue service’s 35 fire engines were available to respond to 999 calls.
