HE’S normally used to performing in front of thousands on the big stage.
But for one night only on Saturday, Tinchy Stryder was seen at a more intimate gig.
The rapper headlined the Aston Rowant cricket club fundraiser on a farm in Crowell, near Chinnor, in front of few hundred people for the Astonbury festival.
Afterwards, Tinchy, dubbed The Prince of Grime, thanked the audience and organisers for inviting him.
He said: “The crowd was amazing. You’ve heard of a love-hate relationship. This is a love-love relationship.”
The East End star said he would return and that he’d thoroughly enjoyed it.
And yesterday Tinchy, who performed his new single ESG for the first time at the event, tweeted: “Shouts to every single person from Oxfordshire who came out last night.”
Organisers also lined up DJs from London’s Ministry of Sound and some local acts including singer-songwriter Emma McGann.
Wicket keeper Thad Cooper, from Postcombe, near Lewknor, who organised the event with Gemma Walker, said: “There were about 1,500 people in the end and it was meant to be an intimate gig.”
Of Tinchy, Mr Cooper said: “He was the nicest person I have ever met in my life and an absolute pleasure to look after. It was a family festival and he’s perfect for the kind of crowd we had.”
Mr Cooper said Tinchy was the biggest name to appear at the event, now in its seventh year. And he said it was too early to say how much was raised towards the club.
