Campsfield House
CONCERNS over conditions at an immigration detention centre have been raised at a shareholders’ meeting.
Campsfield House near Kidlington has been run by Mitie on behalf of the Home Office since 2011.
More than 50 detainees went on hunger strike earlier this year and more than 100 were led out from the Langford Lane centre during a major fire in October.
The Rev Robert Nind, a shareholder and member of the Campaign to Close Campsfield, challenged the management at Mitie at the company’s annual general meeting in London on Wednesday.
He told the meeting the contract to run Campsfield House was a “poison chalice”.
Mitie declined to comment.
