Sir – We are to enjoy extra Government funding for road repairs after the recent severe weather.
Oxfordshire County Council could use this opportunity to remove the pointless humps in St Cross Road, outside Linacre College, and to pay some courtesy to funeral cortèges by also removing all the humps down the hill towards the crematorium in Barton.
In my opinion, motorists’ adherence to the relevant speed limit is sufficient to calm the traffic.
The single pair of humps at Linacre seems only to provoke swerving by some cars, whilst the journey for grieving families proceeding to the crematorium is quite unnecessarily a miserable discomfort.
Time for our councillors to help, not to punish us further.
