THE death of 18-year-old Connor Sparrowhawk at Slade House was indeed a tragedy.
His family, who have been very active in campaigning for better services for those with learning disabilities, will no doubt welcome the Government’s care minister’s comments.
Speaking in the House of Commons, Norman Lamb MP said it was a scandalous case and quite rightly that this sort of thing cannot ever happen again.
But we hope it’s a case of actions speaking louder than words and that the minister follows up his comments with something concrete.
We now know that a serious case review is being carried out and we hope that goes alongside the Government and authorities stepping in to make sure, as the family are, that Connor’s death was not in vain.
