LAST Sunday, I was part of a small team that organised a convoy of about 50 cars which were either built at Cowley or had a connection to Cowley.
The convoy left from Mini Plant Oxford and finished at the BMC and Leyland Show at Gaydon.
We had models ranging from Morris Oxford Series 2 to Austin Princess and Rover SD1 to Vanden Plas Maestro and a good number of Minis too.
I would like to thank all those who waved at us en route as we made our way though Kidlington, Deddington and Banbury before reaching the Motor Heritage Centre at Gaydon.
The waves and smiles from the public are lovely to see.
I thought your readers might like to see a couple of photographs from the day, one part of the convoy which was taken by Sarah Fifield from the Mini Invaders Club and another of the last Montego off the line at Cowley (signed by 962 of the Cowley workforce) with the earliest known surviving Montego, which is the only remaining Montego on an ‘A’ plate.
