A man who tried to steal a wallet and mobile phone from outside a cafe was chased by members of the public.
The theft happened in Cafe Aloha in The Square at about 1.30pm yesterday.
A 47-year-old man from Oxford was last night in police custody after being arrested on suspicion of theft.
