A care home with 80 bedrooms is set to be built alongside 16 homes in Chipping Norton after it was granted planning permission yesterday.
Oxfordshire County Council applied to West Oxfordshire District Council for planning permission to create the facility on land at Rockhill Farm in London Road.
Planning officers recommended the development for approval and the district council’s uplands area planning sub-committee approved it.
Chipping Norton Town Council is concerned the building will be too “tall and overbearing” at a major entrance to the town and there is not enough car parking space.
The county council says there will be good public transport, cycle and pedestrian links, while a footpath leading to London Road will be widened.
