THESE people might not look dangerous but they’re taking up arms against weapons.
A group of knitters from Wallingford have been taking part in a national campaign against nuclear weapons – by creating a seven-mile long pink scarf.
Once complete, the scarf will stretch between the Atomic Weapons Establishment sites at Aldermaston and at Burghfield.
Artist Janey Carline has been among those people from Wallingford who together have knitted around 100 yards of the scarf.
She said: “I am not really a keen knitter, I just started because of this project and I feel strongly about nuclear bombs.
“It was a great experience and people have been really enthusiastic about it.”
The portion of scarves will be sent to the Wool Against Weapons project and then put together in time for the full scarf to be unveiled in August.
