Sir – House prices have always escalated in Oxford and North Oxford is no exception.
My grandfather bought a house in Charlbury Road for my father on his marriage in 1924 for £3,000. It was sold recently for £3m.
However, the family had to move out in 1949 because my father could not afford to pay the high council rates.
