SUMMERTOWN Stars Reds continued their fine recent run of form by winning the Oxford Mail Youth League Under 11 Shield final.
Ben Curtis sealed their 3-1 victory over Greater Leys Youth with a late free-kick in an entertaining match.
Early pressure from Stars led to a goal from left winger Zéphyr Goriely.
Edward Sanderson doubled the lead when he netted from close range as Summertown, who had beaten runaway Division D champions Kidlington Youth to reach the final, went 2-0 ahead.
Greater Leys’ Adam Brown gave his team hope in the second-half, when he slipped his marker at a corner to score.
But Summertown nerves were finally calmed by a superbly struck free-kick from defender Curtis, which cleared the wall and nestled in the net.
