OXFORD University students have been praised by the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign for giving a “fantastic boost to the charity”.
Eight colleges entered teams into the Oxford Town and Gown event last year, which included 49 runners from Brasenose College, 44 from Merton College and 32 from St John’s.
The Oxford Mail-backed 10km race takes place on May 11 this year, and Brasenose College has already signed up 37 students for the event.
Last year, Brasenose students were the highest fundraisers, generating more than £3,000 towards the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign’s work funding ground-breaking research into treatments for muscular dystrophy and related neuromuscular conditions.
Toya Champ, challenge events manager for the charity, said: “The Oxford Town and Gown 10km falls at a time of year that is busy and stressful for many students, yet Oxford students find the time to support us in large numbers.”
