ALICE in Wonderland herself, Fiona Fullerton, was joint guest of honour with Great British Bake Off winner John Whaite at a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.
Ms Fullerton, who starred as Alice in a 1972 film of the book, went on to play Bond girl Pola Ivanova in A View To A Kill and most recently graced our screens in Strictly Come Dancing.
On Saturday, she reprised her first role for a novel afternoon tea at Burford Garden Company.
John Whaite, winner of the third Great British Bake Off, also popped down to see how chefs at the garden centre had interpreted his carrot cake recipe.
Mr Whaite, who lives in London, said: “I definitely think we need more tea parties. We need to celebrate them. They’re a very English thing.”
Mr Whaite studied law at Manchester University after turning down Oxford. Fiona Fullerton has made a move into property development, and says she owns a large number in St Clements, St James Street and Iffley Road.
She was invited to the tea party by friend and organiser Michelle Follett-Holt. It was also the launch party for the 2014 Cotswolds Food Festival Bite.
