Hospital managers will today get the keys to the new children's hospital and West Wing, marking the completion of a £135m project.
Vickie Holcroft, director of private finance initiative (PFI) projects for Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust, will be handed the keys by Vasan Govendar, general manager of The Hospital Company.
The event will mark the final stages of the relocation from the 18th century Radcliffe Infirmary in the city centre.
The West Wing, which is attached to the new children's hospital, will house the services previously in the RI. These include neurosciences, specialist surgery, plastic and cranio-facial surgery, ear, nose and throat (ENT) and the Oxford Eye Hospital.
The move has been carried out in stages throughout December and will continue through January.
Mrs Holcroft said: "We are all so proud of the new hospital buildings, which have been delivered on time and on budget.
"We have always provided the best in clinical care and now we can match this with buildings fit for the 21st century.
"Patients who feel relaxed and comfortable in their surroundings recover more quickly - the purpose-built West Wing and children's hospital will really enhance patient care and the overall patient experience. Areas are light, bright and airy and house the latest in cutting edge technology."
The children's hospital, which is staging an open day on Wednesday, will get its first patients on January 14, and the last inpatients from the Radcliffe Infirmary will move during the weekend of January 13 and 14.
The new buildings have been constructed in partnership with The Hospital Company, the trust's PFI partners for the John Radcliffe project.
Oxford Bus Company has provided new bus services to get the additional staff and patients to the site.
The building was certified complete by independent certifier Mouchel Parkman, who tested and approved various technical aspects of the building, from the structural foundations through to the illumination of lights in the operating theatres.
The Radcliffe Infirmary site will be transformed into a £240m Oxford University campus, which will include a £10m healthcare facility.
A detailed planning application for the health centre will be submitted in March. It is expected to open at the end of 2008.
