THE best of British craftsmanship will be on display inside the 12th century Medieval Abbey in Abingdon this weekend.
Chairmaking, fashion, sculpture, leather items, soaps and jewellery are among the attractions – and many of the craftsmen will produce orders there and then.
Richard Balaam, who carves sculptures from wood using a chainsaw and other tools, will be one of those present.
He said: “It is a lovely little setting and the perfect opportunity for a lot of people to show the things they make.”
Mr Balaam, who is from Somerset, but frequently works in Oxfordshire, including at Blenheim Palace, has been chainsaw carving for more than four years.
He said: “I had a close friend who had been carving for several years.
“I was telling him how unhappy I was in the pub trade and he said, come and work for me.”
The craft fair opened on Thursday and will continue today – between 10am and 5pm – and tomorrow – between 10am and 4.30pm. Entrance costs £4.30 for adults, £3.30 for concessions and £2.20 for children.
