A PROPERTY developer wants to build 23 new homes on an Oxfordshire farm.

Gloucestershire-based Bruton Knowles wants to demolish farm buildings and convert two barns at Bow Farm in Stanford in the Vale near Wantage.

The new homes would include 11 with four or more bedrooms; two, two-bedrooms and one, three-bedroom for the open market. There would also be nine, two-bedroom properties for an affordable housing provider.

One villager told the council he was concerned the development would be a “mini housing estate with identikit homes”.

He said: “Can’t we see a bit more variation and imagination?”

Bruton Knowles cited the Vale council’s inability to show it was getting enough homes built for the next five years as demanded by Government.

The company said: “This is a location where new development can be built on the edge of the village with minimal environmental impact.

Vale of White Horse District Council is due to decide on the application on March 3.
