A 13-year-old girl has braved the judges to beat thousands in a UK-wide music competition.
Louisa Moreton-Pope, of Beeching Way, Wallingford, was one of 280 out of 9,000 entries from across the country chosen to sing in the regional finals of Open Mic UK 2013.
She is heading to Reading on Sunday for the second stage of the competition.
Louisa only started taking singing and guitar lessons in January this year, but she is now in the running for a place in the final at the O2 Arena in London on January 18.
The Wallingford School pupil said: “I am really looking forward to it. I was quite surprised to go through but I would love to go to the O2.
“Whether I will or not, I don’t know, but I’ll try my best.”
The competition has categories for under-16s, 16 to 20-year-olds and 21 and overs. Louisa sang a Paramore song to progress to the regional finals.
