I CAME to Abingdon on Sunday (October 20) to support my son who was competing in the marathon.
I parked on a street near the end of the marathon after seeing him in difficulty. A local resident (Marie) very generously offered to allow me to park in her driveway while I waited for news. I was so grateful and touched by her kindness to a stranger in distress.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the volunteers who kept competitors safe, on the route and patiently dealt with visitors to the area.
Abingdon should be very proud of itself.
