THESE ramblers were allowed a rare glimpse of some of Oxfordshire’s most historic woodland.
On Sunday about 100 people explored acres of Wychwood Forest near Charlbury that are normally closed to the public.
The second annual Wychwood Walk was organised by the Wychwood Project conservation group.
Walkers who were not members of the project paid £10 to enter, or £5 for under-18s.
Cash will be split between the project and Kidlington’s ROSY – Respite caring for Oxfordshire’s Sick Youngsters.
Charlbury’s Chris Braund, 47 visited with son Arlo, seven, a member of the First Charlbury Beaver Scouts.
Mr Braund said: “There is a strong emphasis at the Scouts on getting in touch with the natural environment so they were identifying trees.”
The woodland, owned by Lord and Lady Rotherwick of Cornbury Park Estate, was a royal hunting forest.
It is home to rare species like the autumn crocus.
