THE flagship building of Oxford Brookes University’s £132m redevelopment has been delayed again.

The John Henry Brookes Building on the university’s Headington campus was originally due to open in September.

The university then said it would open in phases between September and January. Now it has said it will begin moving in from January.

Spokesman Matthew Butler said: “It is a huge building project so obviously it is quite a challenging build.”

Once complete, the building will bring together library and teaching space with social learning areas, a students’ union and support services. Brookes student officer Paul McCormack said the further delay was a disappointment, but added: “I would rather it open later than it be rushed.”

In June, the first part of the redevelopment – the £17m Abercrombie building – was officially opened although staff moved into the expansion at the Gipsy Lane Campus last July.
