SHEILA Amos, 16, a nursing cadet in the Banbury division of the St John Ambulance Brigade, proudly shows off her Grand Prior Badge to her fellow cadets.
She should have received the award from Princess Margaret at a Cheltenham presentation in 1963, but her name was sent in too late.
Instead, the award was handed to her by the mayor of Banbury, Mr J E Ryan, at the Brigade Hall.
Sheila, whose parents were brigade officers, had to gain a pass in 12 subjects, including child care, animal care and hygiene, to win the badge.
