VILLAGERS raised money to buy a climbing frame – then gave up their Sunday morning to put it together.
Christina Dore, left, Nicholas Byrnes and Anita Long were among the first children to try it out at Forest Hill in 1979.
Betty and Colin Dougan, licensees of the Kings Arms pub, organised a series of events which raised two-thirds of the money.
South Oxfordshire District Council gave the rest.
Villager Bill Merritt said: “We are trying very hard to liven up Forest Hill and provide amenities for our children.
“It would be dead otherwise.
“A group of people work very hard here arranging things for the community and we always have a good response from young and old alike when we ask for volunteer help.”
