CATHY O’Callaghan started work at Bowyers’ sausage and pie factory at Witney in February 1982 – and within three months had been crowned Miss Bowyers of Witney.
Her quick rise to fame came when 11 girls paraded before the judges at a dance at Exeter Hall, Kidlington.
Cathy, 20, who worked in the company’s stationery department, is pictured second from left with Maureen Steven, left, who finished third, Shirley Horgan, right, who came second, and Bill Cooke, general manager of the Witney site.
